About the Test
Urine analysis examines a single urine sample across physical, chemical and microscopic properties to give a broad snapshot of urinary and metabolic health. Physical and chemical readings such as colour, appearance, pH, specific gravity, protein, glucose, ketones, blood, nitrite and leucocytes flag issues like infection, dehydration or sugar in the urine, while the microscopic sediment looks for red and white blood cells, casts, crystals, epithelial cells, yeast and bacteria. It is used both as a routine wellness check and to investigate symptoms such as burning urination, cloudy urine or flank pain.
What is it? Urine analysis, also called urinalysis, urine routine, urine R/E or UA, is a combined chemical and microscopic examination of a urine sample.

Urine Analysis test: purpose, preparation and results
Why take the Urine Analysis test?
- As a routine screen of kidney, urinary-tract and metabolic health during a general check-up
- To investigate symptoms like painful or frequent urination, cloudy or blood-tinged urine, or lower-back pain
- To help detect or monitor urinary tract infections, kidney conditions and unmanaged blood sugar
How to prepare for the Urine Analysis test
No fasting is needed for this test. A clean-catch mid-stream sample gives the most reliable result, so start passing urine, then collect the middle portion in the sterile container provided. Where possible, avoid sampling during menstruation, as blood can affect the reading.
Understanding your Urine Analysis results
Findings such as protein, glucose, nitrite, leucocytes, blood cells, casts or bacteria in the sediment can point to infection, kidney strain, dehydration or a metabolic issue and usually need to be read alongside symptoms and other tests. Discuss your report with a doctor before drawing any conclusions or starting treatment.

Our DHA-licensed nurse brings a sterile container to your home, office or hotel in Dubai and guides you through providing a clean-catch mid-stream sample. The visit itself takes only a few minutes.
Reports are typically ready within 8 hours and delivered to you on WhatsApp and email. A doctor reviews the findings before your report is released.
No fasting is required. You can eat and drink normally, though staying reasonably hydrated helps you provide an adequate sample when the nurse arrives.
It is best to avoid testing during menstruation, because menstrual blood can show up as red cells or blood in the sample and confuse the result. If your test is urgent, mention it so the report can be interpreted with that in mind.
It can flag urinary tract infections, blood or protein in the urine, sugar and ketones linked to diabetes, dehydration, and crystals or casts that may point to kidney concerns. Abnormal results guide further, more specific testing.
This is a self-pay service priced in AED, with no insurance paperwork involved. You settle directly for the AED 45 test when you book your at-home visit.
