The STI 14 test checks one urine sample for 14 sexually transmitted and genital infections. It covers everything in STI 7 (chlamydia, gonorrhoea, trichomonas, mycoplasma and ureaplasma) plus herpes 1 and 2, syphilis, chancroid, thrush, gardnerella and group B strep. It uses PCR, which finds each organism's genetic material, so it picks up infections even when you have no symptoms.

How to prepare for the STI Test – 14 Infections test
No fasting is needed. Do not pass urine for at least 1 hour before the nurse arrives, so the sample holds enough of any organism. Most of these infections show on PCR from about 2 weeks after a possible exposure, so testing earlier can miss one.
Understanding your STI Test – 14 Infections results
Each of the 14 infections is reported as detected or not detected. If one is detected, a BestDOC doctor calls you with a clear next step, which for most of these infections is a short course of treatment. Herpes and syphilis show best on PCR when there is a sore; without one, the doctor may suggest a blood test as well.
