The drip, explained
What is the Iron+ Boost IV drip?
A hospital-standard iron infusion at home. For confirmed low ferritin on a blood test, not for suspected deficiency.
Low iron causes tiredness that sleep does not fix, breathlessness on stairs, cold hands, hair loss and poor concentration. Iron tablets take six months, often upset the stomach, and for many people do not raise ferritin much.
One infusion of 500mg iron sucrose delivers what months of tablets would. Same medicine, same protocol and same monitoring as a hospital, over 60 to 90 minutes, with a DHA-licensed nurse present. It requires a recent ferritin result. If you do not have one, we take the blood at home and have the result the next day.
Who books it
- Ferritin under 30. On a blood test from the last three months. This is the result the doctor needs to see.
- Heavy periods. The most common cause. Tablets cannot replace what is lost each month.
- Tablets did not work. Six months of oral iron, stomach problems, ferritin still low. This is the next step.
- Postpartum, or vegetarian. Both groups commonly have low iron. Confirm with a blood test, then treat in one visit.

How much does an iron infusion cost in Dubai?
AED 1,200 for a single infusion, including the nurse, the 60 to 90 minute visit and the kit. A pack of 2 is AED 2,280 if the follow-up blood test shows you need a second. A ferritin test at home, if you need one first, is AED 150. Hospital day units in Dubai charge more once the consultation fee is added.
Iron+ Boost or Energy Boost?
It depends on your ferritin. Under 30: book this one, because vitamins do not fix low iron. Normal ferritin and still tired: book Energy Boost. If you do not know your ferritin, we take the blood at home and you have the result the next day.
Can I have it if I am on iron tablets already?
Yes, and most clients stop the tablets afterwards. Tell the doctor what you are taking. The infusion delivers in one visit what the tablets would over six months.
Why do I need a blood test first?
Iron at this dose without confirmed deficiency does not help and can occasionally cause iron overload. The blood test takes 10 minutes and the result comes back in 24 hours; without it, we cannot run the drip safely.
How quickly will I feel a difference?
Most clients feel a lift in energy within 48 to 72 hours, which builds across the next two weeks as red blood cells turn over. Full ferritin recovery takes 6 to 8 weeks; the doctor reviews then.
Will I need a second infusion?
Roughly half our clients need only one. The other half need a follow-up at 6 to 8 weeks; the doctor decides based on the post-drip bloods.
Are there side effects?
Mild flushing or a brief metallic taste during the drip is occasional and resolves quickly. Significant reactions are rare and the protocol is built around catching them — slow drip rate, nurse staying the visit, 15-minute monitoring after.
Is this the same as a hospital iron infusion?
Yes — same medication, same protocol, same monitoring. The difference is the setting and the time savings; clinically, identical.
Can I have it during pregnancy?
Second and third trimester only, with obstetrician sign-off. We coordinate directly with your prescribing doctor.
